I have set up this site, in memory of the best person ever. She was the loving wife of Mark, wonderful mother to Kate, Zoe and Holly and dearly missed grandmother to Lucy and Grace (whom was born after she died). Daughter of Ann and David Comerford and sister to Nick and Jane.
Mum passed away on the 31st January 2009, peacefully at her home in Llantwit Major. Mum had been suffering from a rare type of cancer called Angiosacoma. Mum had been mis-diagnosed several times in the past few years, with just having a bad shoulder, to being told that it could have possibly been lymphoma. .
Mum was such a brave person throughout the whole ordeal, keeping a lot of her doctors findings close to her chest and only giving away the smallest amount of details, so she could protect us from the horrible truth. She was mis-diagnosed by two doctors in early 2008, who then discharged her from their care where she was told to return in early May 2009 for an annual check up. Mum lost a great deal of weight during the summer months, and started to severely lose the use of her right arm. Bless her heart, she carried on as normal, and was still working into early December 2008 even though she must have been in a substantial amount of pain.
Mum was admitted in the Princess of Wales hospital, Bridgend in early December after being dragged to the G.P by myself after complaining of numbness in her arm, and I could see the blood flow was becoming restricted. the doctor advised her to attend A and E, which the first time ( Friday night) she was turned away, only for her to return the Sunday afternoon in which that time she was admitted. After a few days and tests they discharged her home. Again a few days later we returned to the G.P with the some complaint and also the skin on her chest (which were like open sores) began to weep so again he said to return to A and E, which she did and again was admitted.
Mum at this point had undergone a lot of tests, bloods, x-rays ct scans, but still she said they could not pin point anything. She was then transferred to oncology ward in Singleton Hospital, Swansea. There they carried out the same tests and found the my poor mum had 3 litres of fluid on her lungs, which they drained. More tests were carried out and they decided that she would benefit from a course of chemotherapy.
She was discharged for Christmas and would return to the hospital on a weekly basis to undergo her chemotherapy treatment.
We shared a lovely Christmas day together, with my poor nan cooking a huge dinner for 11 of us. Mum smiled throughout that day, I think she knew it would be her last. I am just glad we were all together.
Mum returned each week for her chemo, and continued to take her tablets. Several times returning to the G.P with all above mentioned complaints and again tightness in her chest. But the hospital just told the doctor to tell mum to rest. So she set about sorting stuff out for myself and my sisters. Instructing my nan to sort of her wardrobe and my sisters, mum even started to teach my dad how to cook. Even up until the day before she died she was looking out for us, she actually spent the day at my house with my nan and auntie helping me sort out my house.
January 31st 2009. THE DAY WE LOST HER!!!!
I was due to take my sisters to my nans so my mum could rest for the day, but when i called the house in the morning dad said that mum had not had a very good night, and he hoped nan would come down to see him and mum. So nan and my auntie went to my parents house to look after mum. So I decided to pop out for a quick bit of food shopping. When i returned i called my parents house, and spoke to nan she told me mum was well and that she had called the hospital who told her to get a doctor out to see mum, which she did. I then called a while later to see what was going on and nan informed me that mum had trouble breathing and that the ambulance had been called to take her back to hospital. She never made it.Unfortunately nan called 10 mins later to say mum had passed away. She was 45.
She was the most amazing woman, who you would have never guessed she was ill, she just carried on as if it were nothing.
I just wish she could be here now, as I have just had another daughter who I know she would have loved.
" all that I wanted are things I had before, all that I needed I have never needed more"
All my love

I only knew you a short time Louise but it was long enough to see that you were a wonderful person, always there for your family and making visitors like myself and my wife Linda very welcome in your home and chatting away as if you'd known us all our lives.
Your passing came as a massive shock to us as you seemed so care free and carried on working until you became so ill that it was impossible to carry on, what a brave person you were. Now we have our memories and our photos to remember you by but they don't seem enough as you will be forever in our hearts.We look at our mutual grand-daughters and think of you, R.I.P. Louise a truly wonderful person.
So Sorry for your loss XxX

my thoughts are with your family xxx
Mum, we miss you so very much
Not just now but every single day,
Every minute and every hour,
Since you went away.
You were the center of our lives
Before your soul passed on;
It’s just so hard for us to believe
That you are really gone.
But we celebrate the life you lived
And all the things you gave us;
Our wonderful memories, Mum, of you
Are the things that will comfort and save us.
Please think of us, as we think of you
With hearts so full of love;
We’re looking up at you, sweet Mum,
As you look at us from above
